Assignment 3.3

  1. What are the three most important ideas you learned while investigating this topic of cyberbullying?
    1. I learned that cyberbullying can be devastating to a child and their classroom performance.
    2. How big of an impact the teacher can have on the attitudes of their students.
    3. How vital it is to make yourself as the teacher available to your students and be an open door if they need help.
  2. Why is cyberbullying important to you as a future teacher?
    1. To me cyberbullying is important to me as a future teacher because even though I will be working with young kids, they can still feel the emotions that most adults have when they are faces with a situation like this. Kids can feel depression too, and I see it as my job as a future teacher to make sure that my kids have a person that they feel safe coming to with something like this or if they need to help a friend who is being cyberbullied.
  3. What classroom rules can you create to ensure that cyberbullying is not a part of your future classroom?
    1. Acknowledge the good behavior and reward it, but also take the time to set repercussions for unwanted behavior.
    2. Keep a place where all electronics have to be placed while the kids are in school so there is no temptation of any sort of communication electronically, whether it is good or bad.
    3. If there is an issue, make it known to the class before hand that you will involve parents in the issues.
    4. Have a board in the classroom that has all of the expectations of what the class should be doing and how they should be acting.
